I must admit, I was very sceptical about trying a matcha tea from China. But, at £13.95 for 200g, it was worth a try. I was more than pleasantly surprised to find a very high grade (premium/ almost ceremonial) tea that was fresh in colour, rather good in taste and frothed well when stirred with a chasen. I've uploaded photos when compared with my supermarket Uji matcha from Japan. This matcha has an ever-so-slightly bitter after-taste, but I like that, although it may not be to everyone's preference. Certainly not a fishy smelling tea, unlike some of the other so-called Japanese matcha "ceremonial" matcha teas out there (which should not be consumed any other way except putting it in pancakes). Outside of Japan, matcha is always going to be more expensive, but this isn't a bad purchase if you're in the UK. If they can keep the cost down at the £13.95 level, I would probably purchase it again.
Finely ground fresh product. Expiry date is important for green tea it must be fresh and bright green or you might as well use sawdust.

I was surprised how good this matcha is for the price. Smooth taste, mixes well, and works perfectly for lattes. Gives a clean energy boost without jitters. You get a big amount for a really cheap price, so it’s great value. I definitely recommend it.

I’m disappointed with this matcha. It was never truly high quality before, but at least it had a nicer color and a more distinct, smoother taste. The new version, however, is much worse. The company advertises it as ceremonial grade, but the color is dull brownish-green and the flavor is flat, more like black tea than real matcha. This is not what I would expect from a product marketed as ceremonial. Sadly, instead of improving, the quality has gone downhill.
Sales literature suggests this is from Japan. The packaging states Produce of China!
I prefer the macha tea bags but if put in a blender maybe better
But idk about 200 servings 😭
I really tried to like this but the taste is quite bitter and I always have a few clumps that don't dissolve in hot water. The only way I've worked around the bitter taste of this matcha is by using strawberry milk along with soya/oat and adding honey with a dash of vanilla syrup.I'm not going to repurchase but will finish the bag for the health benefits but I highly recommend spending the extra money to get some good matcha because this just isn't it.
The bright green colour shows it is a high quality grade. It has that lovely nutty, earthy taste both as matcha tea made with hot water or mixed with coffee and milk as a matcha latte. It dissolves quickly and completely when whisked compared to the matcha I bought that is twice its price. The more expensive matcha is a bit hard on the stomach, whereas this one didn't have that issue. The price per gram is very good compared to other brands, but I haven't tried those so can't compare quality. In summary, a great matcha at a great price.My daughter and I enjoy drinking matcha tea and matcha lattes. We have a wee set in the kitchen (bamboo try, bamboo spoons, little sieve, matcha whisk and bowl set, and a glass matcha bowl with pouring spout). It's an enjoyable ritual making matcha tea and seeing the beautiful green frothy mixture. I even bought a matcha bowl and whisk for work so I can enjoy starting everyday with a taste of the orient.
have brought other matcha from amazon which were WAYYYY more expensive but this one is by far the best for the value. It smells expensive and extremely authentic! It taste fresh and does not taste grassy at all !I will be repurchasing this again! 10/10.
I was afraid of buying a cheaper matcha online because going through the reviews shows that there are strong differences in preferences - some people are more demanding and some people less demanding so it gets really difficult to define whether something is good or bad from matcha reviews. But I decided to give it a go and unfortunately this matcha doesn't feel right. When I add a little bit of water to 1 scoop of the power, it seems like the powder expands in volume. This is not a foaming effect, it feels to me like there is something starchy substance added to the powder. The smell and taste is softer than the other matcha I had bought at a local organic store, which was more expensive. This matcha stays too think when mixed with water and/or oat milk, so this really makes me think that this powder is not pure matcha powder. Something seems to be added to it for volume, and hence the cheaper product. Anyway, I will try it a few more times just for the sake of not throwing it out, but I am not sure I will be able to continue drinking it. It is a pitty that I wasted my money. I will buy the more expensive powder from now on. Definitely not worth it for me.
The flavour is really strong, as it should be. There's so much to do with this powder, and I'm still figuring out new recipes. Overall, I think it's worth buying this powder. The matcha latte is great.
I’m new to Matcha green teas.I usually drink coffee and whilst I do enjoy coffee. I felt it was time to try an alternative with health benefits too.Been using it for more than a week now and I have noticed a lot more natural energy throughout the day, without the caffeine crash from coffee.It took a little time to get used to the flavour, which is hard to describe, but is pleasant and with a little honey added it’s a great drink in a morning.
I ordered this tea and a more expensive one in a small tin to compare the two. This one is so bitter it is not pleasant to drink. I even tried adding honey, but there was still a strong bitter taste. I can't see this as a problem. Apparently the Buddhist Monks discovered this tea in China originally! If you are drinking this for the health benefits and can swallow the bitter taste, it is probably far more economical. The smaller tin I bought will not last long. This one is not quite as bright green as the expensive one which is probably the true 'ceremonial grade.' As these grades are not regulated you can only rely on reviews and trying for yourself.

I initially bought this tea for making a cheesecake (which turned out great). However, having lots left over, I occasionally make myself a green tea in the evening to relax. If you don't have a matcha whisk, like myself, I recommend preparing it like you'd make a cup of Ovaltine :-Put a small teaspoon (not heaped, matcha is very strong) of tea in your mug-Add a small amount of hot water ~1-2 tbsp and whisk together until you get a homogenous paste-Top up your mug with hot water and mix the paste in until the whole drink is the same green colourYou should have a deposit at the bottom of your mug after you've finished drinking; this is normal as the powder doesn't dissolve in water.All in all, this is a nice tea, whether you just want to drink it, or for baking purposes.
Not really good at reviews, but I do read them so it's only fair to leave some too. I really like this matcha tea- it was delivered very promptly and I started to use it. Seems to be quite strong- if you not used to it- like me at first- don't put too much into your cup. I drink mine with almond milk but it can be drink however you want or add to smoothies etc. It gives you more energy and I hope also will see some detox results soon.Will be back for more.
A nice tasting tea which is apparently ceremonial grade but not entirely sure who validates these things. It comes as a very fine powder which can escape the plastic pouch in tiny amounts when agitated by opening. Loses a star because the packaging is really low quality and doesn't reseal, despite showing intentions it can; best to store this pouch inside an airtight container for maximum freshness. Can't fault it otherwise!
