Preparing your matcha

How much matcha should I use?

Start with 1–2g per drink and adjust to your taste. A 100g pouch gives approximately 50 servings at 2g, or 100 at 1g. The amount you use determines how long your pouch lasts.

How do I make matcha with water?

Put 1–2g of matcha in a bowl or cup. Add a small amount of hot water and stir or whisk into a smooth paste. Gradually add more water until the drink reaches your preferred strength. Allow freshly boiled water to cool slightly before mixing.

How do I make a matcha latte?

Why is my matcha clumpy?

Sift the powder before mixing and begin with a small amount of water. Whisk or stir until smooth before adding the rest of your drink. Adding dry matcha straight to a full glass of milk makes it harder to mix evenly.

Do I need special equipment?

A bamboo whisk is useful, but a small kitchen whisk or handheld frother can also work. Scales help you measure repeatable portions. A fine sieve helps break up clumps.
